Call For Art: Show me the City – Artists Visions in The Bay Area

Studio 23 will be having it’s inaugural Exhibition tentatively scheduled for September 13th (Second Friday).

Theme for our first group show:

Show me the City Artists renditions in the Bay Area.

– This is a very open theme, the work can be exterior, interior, even abstract. We want a wide variety of styles and techniques!

It could be a sketch of a person in a coffee shop, a photo of a fence, a painting of a lamp post, or a watercolor of landscape or street scene.

Primarily we want to showcase the new and exciting talent here around Alameda ( including the entire Bay Area) and create a unique and creative show of work that is fresh and edgy.

Work Constraints:

Dimensions: No larger than 48″ x 48″ (framed or affixed with hanging hardware)

Medium: Original Paintings, Drawings, Inking, Photography, Mono-prints, etc. (Pretty much any visual medium)

Submission Deadline:  August 20th, 2013

Extended Deadline: August 24th, 2013 (If we still have room we may extend the submission deadline to 8/24/13)

Details: You can submit up to six pieces  by emailing digital photos of the work. We will probably only be using one or two works by each artists depending on space constraints. Email your submissions, along with your contact info to art (at) alamedaartists (dot) com by August 24th.

You will be notified no later than August 26th  and work will need to be delivered to the Studio no later than September 1st, 2013.

You will need to have your work priced, the gallery will add on 30% to your price. So if your work is priced at $500, it will be listed in the show at $650.  This is very low compared to most galleries which take 40-50% of the sale price! We will try to keep our commissions low so we can support the artists, while still being able to pay the rent at the gallery 🙂

Prints: If your work is accepted in the show, you can also have prints available (Giclee or similar on paper), prints should be in plastic with a cardboard backing so they can be displayed in a flip cart.

Studio 23 is a new studio Gallery in Alameda, located at Encinal and Park St.

Art and Living

Painting and drawing helps me slow down enough to capture the beauty of temporary moments, helping me feel connected with everything living. When I spend time with others making and viewing art, I discover new ways of seeing. When I am alone making art, little explosions of insight happen spontaneously. Sometimes I like what I produce, and sometimes I don’t. But I always feel that engaging in art is time well spent.
